LOS ANGELES is an art space.
Over the coming years, a habitable sculpture garden will be established at the 3000 m² site on the edge of the small village of Günsterode, near Kassel. It will grow and develop through the form of the artistic projects that are conceived and built here. LOS ANGELES is a place for artists, architects and theorists to meet, work and stay. The objects, sculptures and installations will also provide the structures for sleeping, eating, working, etc., while workshops, seminars, exhibitions and artist residencies are taking place. LOS ANGELES is open to the public for events and site visits.
The LOS ANGELES project revolves around themes such as the connections between practical necessities and artistic questions, the possibilities of a rural versus an urban context, the interrogation of different modes of artistic collaboration, the conditions of a self-organized form of art, and the reality-changing potential of objects and spaces.

LOS ANGELES liegt in der Mitte Deutschlands, am Rande eines kleinen Dorfes unweit von Kassel. Das fast 3000 m2 große Grundstück entwickelt sich sukzessive zu einer sich ständig erweiternden bewohnbaren Skulptur, die als Treffpunkt und Arbeits- und Aufenthaltsort für Künstler*innen funktioniert. Aufenthalte in LOS ANGELES haben das Ziel der Herstellung von künstlerischen Arbeiten, die LOS ANGELES als Ort weiterentwickeln und teilweise auch praktische Strukturen, beispielsweise zum Schlafen, Essen, Arbeiten etc. bieten.
Das Projekt LOS ANGELES dreht sich um Themen wie die Zusammenhänge von praktischen Notwendigkeiten und künstlerischen Fragestellungen, die Möglichkeiten eines ländlichen gegenüber eines urbanen Kontextes, die Befragung unterschiedlicher Modi künstlerischer Zusammenarbeit, die Bedingungen einer selbstorganisierten Form von Kunst und das realitätsverändernde Potenzial von Gegenständen und Räumen.
